Rising number of corona cases: Center for new covid instructions for states

New Delhi: The Government of India on Wednesday issued instructions to the states to sign an agreement with Hotel Gama to build temporary hospitals related to COVID-19 and augmentation of hospitals related to COVID-19. In addition, it said it would monitor the cases of children.

The Central Government has issued these instructions in view of the possibility of increase in Kovid-19 cases. Large numbers of Omicronionum people are more likely to get sick in a short period of time, with or without mild illnesses.

The Center said that till Saturday morning, 22,775 new cases of Kovid-19 were reported in the country, of which 1,04,781 are active cases, which is the highest in nearly two and a half months.

The Union Health Secretary, in a letter to the Chief Secretary of the state, said that due to the sudden increase in cases, some parts of the country may be plagued by strained health infrastructure.
"States are advised to start construction of field or temporary hospitals to enhance the availability of health related infrastructure to address possible escalation of cases and ensure readiness," the letter said. The central government has said that states can take help of organizations like DRDO, CSIR, corporations, private sector or NGOs.

Health secretaries have informed that states can consider hotel rooms and other accommodation attached to COVID dedicated hospitals in government and private sector for patients with mild or moderate cases.
With a large number of patients being isolated at home, states must ensure that home-specific guidelines are properly implemented using measures such as special teams, call centers and control rooms.

“There should be a clearly defined process for assessing examination, ambulance and hospital beds and communicating with the public at large. The letter said that people can avail ambulances and beds at any time.

States have been directed to re-evaluate the existing COVID dedicated health infrastructure and ensure that necessary steps are taken to ensure its operational readiness with a clear focus on rural areas and cases of children.
