CM Bommai, who ends coviduct exemption in areas where positive rate is less
BENGALURU: Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Monday categorically rejected the idea of restricting COVID-19 cases in a state with a low positive rate. The CM has instead emphasized the need to take more precautions.
No... I would have said we would decide based on the spread of covid. Now you see, yesterday the state had 12,000 cases, Bengaluru reported more than 9,000 cases.
Responding to a query from reporters about the easing of Covid restrictions in some districts till the time of crisis, the CM said the positivity rate in the state was 6.8 per cent and in Bangalore it was 10 per cent. We are at number three in the whole country. We need to be extra careful in such a situation,” he said.
Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister JC Madhuswamy said after a cabinet meeting last week that the issue of easing COVID restrictions in places with low positive rates would be reviewed.
In the cabinet meeting chaired by Bommai, some ministers expressed concern that restrictions should be eased across the state, especially in areas where there is little positive.
The state government has imposed a weekend curfew on January 4 to curb the third wave of Kovid and ban public gatherings.
Night curfew has been decided to continue for the next two weeks and all rallies, rallies, protests etc. will be banned.

The Defense Minister tweeted, "I am corona positive today with mild symptoms.
On January 8, Rajnath Singh addressed the webinar, which allowed 100 fresh military school students to join the armed forces.
