BJP 11, Congress 11, JDS victory in Hassan, Mysore
BANGALORE: The results of the December 10 polls for the 25 seats of the Legislative Council of the local bodies of the ruling BJP were announced on Tuesday. The opposition Congress has also done well in the council elections by retaining 11 of the 14 seats it won in the 2015 assembly elections. The ruling BJP has won 11 seats with a majority of 75-member upper house. We won 11 seats. Home Minister Aaruga Jnanendra has said that after a number of years, the upper house has received a majority.
Higher Education Minister Dr CNN Ashwath Narayana said that the BJP has gained strength in the council, so that the government can bring in new programs and laws without any problems. It will further strengthen the government to give people's governance.
The JDS, which contested six seats in Old Mysore, managed to win only one seat and suffered a major shock. Dr. Suraj Rewanna, son of former minister HD Rewanna, has been elected as a councilor from Hassan Local Organization. Bangalore countryside BJP misses out The Congress candidate is S. V Ravi has won.
In Belgaum, Congress candidate Chennaraj Hattiholi is the winner. Here the BJP candidate is satisfied with the third place. BJP candidate Suja Kushalappa won by 100 votes in Kodagu constituency. He got 705 votes while Congress' Manther Gowda got 603 votes.
JDS candidate Suraj Rewanna of Hassan constituency has bagged the winning feather in the first place. Suraj Rewanna, who won by more than a thousand votes, laughed off the victory with 2247 votes. BJP's Vishwanath was satisfied with 374 votes and Congress candidate A Shankar 747 votes.
